This particular project was a school project that spanned across three different classes. This project mainly focused around level design, however, I believe I learned significantly more than just pure level design.

In the first class I took, we were taught how to create designs and how to effectively convey our ideas to other designers. As seen in the first picture, I was taught to first develop a simplistic layout of my design. Next, as seen in the second picture, I was able to take that simplistic layout to the next level- making it more detailed to the point where another designer could create my level purely from the map alone.

Once I finished the designing phase, I then had to create the functionality. In this project, we were required to design two level specific mechanics and then develop them fully. My mechanics revolved around gathering and crafting. In order for the player to complete the puzzles in my level, they had to gather pieces of clay, craft them into either rocks, papers, or scissors, and then utilize those objects in puzzles.

I created my level from concept to functional and then I fully textured it and added finalized assets. During this process is when I learned how to take conceptual design and make it a reality. I think this was the real turning point in my education - it showed me the actualities of development, which I believe will help me with my future in game design.

In the video below, I go through and explain the entirety of my level.
