Resort Mania is a hotel simulation tycoon game being designed and developed by Azier Larranaga and myself; and to say we learned from this experience would be an understatement. Already, we are faced with looking at feasibility and understanding what is and isn't possible. We quickly discovered out what we're able to create - and what other pieces of the project we'll need to cut.
Not only did I learn a lot about time and project management, but I learned that creating games is basically puzzle solving. Each step of the way I was faced with a task that seemed almost impossible; but I will be piecing together small sections of functionality to eventually create a working prototype.
Looking at specifically my contributions to Resort Mania, most importantly I believe, would be the logo. For this I used Illustrator, and my inspiration came from Prison Architect's peeps and stereotypical bell boy's uniforms. Diving further into the development of the game, I'm creating rhe functionality for the build mode tools, a rudimentary inventory system, and a basic AI-pathing system. These pieces of functionality are small in isolation, but when constructed together, they will form an operating simulation.
